Sterilization Update
Addto Inc. researches new sterilization and packaging techniques in order to compete with rising costs.
For the past year Addto has been researching ways to reduce the cost of sterilization and packaging. Class 1 medical devices require special handling as ordered by the FDA, this creates a additional layer while considering the manufacturing, packaging and shipping of our products.
In effort to reduce cost in the sterilization process we explored the possibility of switching from ETO sterilization to GAMMA radiation. Many things needed to be considered, including the manufacturing process and the materials used. Would they stand up to the radiation exposure? After it was all said and done we found that it was more expensive to switch to GAMMA radiation.
